Blimpduino is the latest creation by Chris Anderson of Wired Magazine and Jordi Munoz of DIY Drones.
The Blimpduino kit is a very low cost, open source, autonomous blimp kit. It consists of an Arduino-based blimp controller board with on-board infrared and ultrasonic sensors and an interface for an optional RC mode, a simple gondola with two vectoring (tilting) differential thrusters, and ground-based infrared beacon. Assembly is required, including soldering.
Please note: This kit requires Helium for blimp envelope (not included, but available at Target and party stores, alone with florists), a 7.4 Lipo battery and charger, a 9V battery, and an FTDI cable for programming. Also you can expand its capabilities by adding a remote control unit if desired.
You can add the RC unit and LiPo and charger by choosing the options above. The RC unit is a 4 channel 2.4 Mhz Hobbyking HK-T4A unit. The Lipo is a a Rhino 460mah battery and the charger is a Turnigy 3-4 cell balancing charger with 12v DC leads (add your own AC adapter if you want to charge at home)
